Tintonegro Malbec Uco Valley 2012

Rated 91 Points by Robert Parker in the Wine Advocate

A Great Value at $12.99 per bottle!

With a wine like this, between the price, rating, and the tasting note that makes you want to open up a bottle right now, this wine speaks for itself!

Though, for those of you who enjoy reading these newsletters, here are some interesting tidbits for you.

Tintonegro means "black wine" in Spanish. The producers of Tintonegro chose this name because of the dark, inky color that Malbec is known for.

Tintonegro is also produced by two longtime employees of the famous Catena Winery. Alejandro, who was Catena's vineyard director, chooses very specific vineyards in very specific sites to produce Tintonegro.

This bottling, for example, is from the Uco Valley, which is at a high elevation, and has a cool climate. Cool climates allow the grapes to ripen longer on the vine, which can produce wines of great weight, texure and complexity.

Rated 91 Points by Robert Parker - "The 2012 Malbec Uco Valley is a 4,000-case cuvee aged nine months in French oak, of which 10% was new. A beautiful, full-bodied, seriously endowed Malbec, it possesses a dense purple color along with a sweet bouquet of blueberry and black raspberry fruit interwoven with camphor, licorice and spring flowers as well as a touch of oak. This wonderfully endowed, full-bodied, classic Argentina Malbec should drink nicely for 5-6 years."

Cheers!
