| The 2008 Branco "Pera-Manca" is a blend of Antao Vaz and Arinto and it is quite lovely this year. Although laced with some oaky notes, it also has good acidity and a refreshing feel to it. Showing some finesse, it is not heavy in the mid-palate, but it remains persistent and subtly intense on the finish. It does not easily fade. I think this has a chance to hold nicely, but note that it is drinking very well now, too, one of the more charming Pera-Manca Brancos I've had. As it airs out, it becomes increasingly pure, shows great clarity and integrates the oak about as well as can be done. Drink now-2015. |
