There is something to be said for vineyards that have been producing wines for 700 years. During all of that time, if anyone at all thought that the land was sub-par, these vineyards would probably no longer exist today. And now, in this age of high-technology and the mass of knowledge that we have accumulated about what makes a great vineyard, there would be critics had anyone felt that this land is better suited for something besides grape growing. Or, if the vines weren't producing terrific grapes, this wine would not have a worldwide following, and reputation for being an excellent Chianti Classico Riserva!

We've sold Nozzole Chianti Classico Riserva for as long as I can remember. We have a lot of customers who drink this wine whether we have a sale price or not! Well, everyone should be excited now, because we are able to sell this excellent Chianti Classico Riserva for the lowest price in at least 5 years...and I'll bet it's been much longer than that (our pricing history for this wine only goes back to 2007).

In order for a wine to be called Chianti Classico, it must be grown within the Classico area of the Chianti region in Italy, which has historically been thought of as the prime growing region within Chianti. All of the Chianti wines must be made with 70-100% Sangiovese, and can have small amounts of other approved grape varieties included to make up at most 30% of the wine. In order for a Chianti Classico to be called a Chianti Classico Riserva, as is the case with the Nozzole, it must spent at least 2 years aging, including at least 3 years in the bottle before it can be released. Then it must be tasted and analyzed for quality control, and only after all of that can we enjoy it!

So seeing that this wine spent at least 2 years at the winery aging, it's even more incredible that we are able to offer it to our customers for just $15.99 per bottle! Well below it's regular price, and well below what this wine tastes like it should cost!

Nozzole Chianti Classico Riserva 2007 has also been rated 89 Points by the Wine Advocate - "The 2007 Chianti Classico Riserva comes across as beautifully opulent and soft in its dark fruit, leather, licorice and spices. This voluptuous dark Chianti captures the essence of the important Tuscan vintage in its depth and long, caressing finish. Mint and flowers add higher-toned notes on the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2017."

So, released in 2010, this wine has had 2 additional years to age in the bottle, above what was already done at the winery. This is a wine with 5 years of total aging on it, that we're able to offer for just $15.99 per bottle! It's a clear winner!
