Louis Jadot is one of the most sought after producers of Red and White Burgundies vintage after vintage. Making wines in literally every price range, there are Louis Jadot wines that are accessible to everyone from the casual wine drinker wanting $10 bottles of wine, up to the serious collector going after the most sought after high-end wines.
So when I was offered some '07s from Jadot recently, I was very excited. Not only because these wines were offered to us at drastically reduced prices and I knew that I could pass those prices on to you, but that Jadot does know how to make ageworthy wines, and these wines should be drinking at or near their peak! The perfect time to pull that cork!
This wine came directly from the national importer, and has been stored properly since its release. If you're a White Burgundy lover, I'm sure that you're excited already. But if not, following are the tasting notes from the professional reviewers:
Rated 90 Points by the Wine Spectator with a release price of $77- "A healthy dose of oak lends spice and butterscotch accents, allied to peach and grapefruit flavors. Firm and well-structured, with a crisp finish. Drink now through 2020."
Rated 91 Points by the Wine Advocate (reviewed in '09) - "The 2007 Chassagne-Montrachet Abbaye de Morgeot (from the original core Morgeot and Jadot’s own domaine rather than their Duc de Magenta holdings) smells of strawberry, apricot, and lemon; combines pungent citrus zest, the chew of fruit skin, and crushed stone for an actively complex palate; and finishes with impressive penetration and persistence, if slightly clipped by its bottling and sulfuring. This should be worth following for half a dozen or more years."
Rated 89-91 Points by Burghound - "A background note of wood toast frames the ripe orchard fruit and resin aromas that contain nuances of underbrush and earth that transfer over to the round, supple, generous and mouth coating flavors that possess a taut muscularity on the relatively powerful and voluminous finish that displays an attractive citrusy character that imparts a certain lift. A solid example that is more refined than usual."
This wine is available in limited quantites, and is drinking great right now, and should continue to do so over the next few years. Please let us know if you have any questions.
Cheers! Tracy Maxon
