Grgich Hills Chardonnay 2009
Our Low Regular Price - $34.99
On Sale Now for only $29.99 per bottle!
I know that this newsletter will make a lot of people happy, because Grgich Hills Chardonnay is already one of our best selling California Chardonnays at its regular everyday price. When I saw this opportunity to be able to lower the price of this wine, I jumped on it, and had this wine delivered on the first delivery date of July (the first day that we could get this pricing)!
For those of you who didn't know, Mike Grgich, who founded Grgich Hills Estate in 1977. July 4th, 1977 to be exact, which is a fitting coincidence that I am featuring their wine on the 3rd! Mike Grgich gained his noteriety as being the winemaker for the famous 1973 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay, which was the winner of the famous Paris Tasting of 1976. The French didn't expect to even like the California Chardonnays, however, when tasted blind, the US wines came in first, second and third place in the competition, beating out famous Burgundian wines from producers with very long histories in winemaking!
Since then, Grgich Hills has turned into a world-class operation, producing high quality wines, and have established a reputable name for themselves worldwide. Their wines have been chosen to be poured at state dinners. Grgich Hills makes 6 different wines, and from their website, it seems that their focal point is their Chardonnay. Mike Grgich is now 88 years old, and still has a hand in this family run and operated winery.
Currently, Grgich Hills owns all of its vineyards, and all of these vineyards are certified organic and biodynamic. On their website, there is tons of information on what biodynamic means, and why Grgich Hills chooses to adhere to its principles. Another interesting Grgich Hills fact, and something that Varmax Liquor Pantry has in common with them, is the addition of solar panels on the roof of their facility. We added solar panels to our roof back in 2010, which you can see from our back door in the rear of the parking lot.
On the 2009 Chardonnay, from the winery - "Crafted from grapes grown without artifical fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides, our Chardonnay displays the classic style that Miljenko (Mike) Grgich established when we began in 1977. The wine's crisp, yet rich flavors of apple, honeydew melon and fig with a hint of baked brioche are perfect for fresh seafood, roasted chicken and pork, or creamy cheeses."
Regularly priced at $34.99, stock up on this wine while lasts at $29.99 per bottle! Plus, save an additonal 10% when purchasing as a solid case, or as part of a mixed case of 750ml still wines.
Cheers!
