Beringer Knight's Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 2009
I, personally, am very excited about this new arrival from Beringer. From the amount of regular Beringer Knight's Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that we sell, I am going to assume that many of you are familiar with that wine. Well, today's featured wine takes the Beringer Knight's Valley Cabernet that you all know and love, to the next level!
According to James Laube from the Wine Spectator in his blog, this is a wine "that has to make Napa Cabernet producers nervous". If that isn't a compliment to Laurie Hook's work at Beringer, then I don't know what is! Many of you will recall the wonderful tasting that we had here last year with Laurie. Not only is she an excellent winemaker, and very knowledgable, but a great person as well.
Knights Valley is located in Sonoma, North of Napa Valley. Beringer has been making wines here since 1976, the longest out of anyone. Another very well known name producing wines here, whose wines are extremely hard to get is none other than Peter Michael, who makes a Red Blend and various Chardonnays from Knights Valley.
In his blog post, Laube describes the Beringer Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve '09 as, "a strikingly excellent Bordeauxstyle blend from Sonoma County that offers a wide array of flavors presented in an elegant, graceful style."
The Wine Spectator went on to rate this wine 94 Points. So far, this wine is under the radar. It was just released, and is a brand new arrival in the store!
Rated 94 Points by the Wine Spectator - "Upping the ante with its Knights Valley red, this offers rich, smooth, layered flavors of blackberry, wild berry, plum and cassis. Full-bodied yet graceful and elegant, most interesting on the finish, where the flavors glide along and pick up a subtle lift of spice and mocha. Drink now through 2024. 3,602 cases made."
Reviews just don't get much better than that. Just reading this description makes me want to open up a bottle right now!
Cheers to Laurie Hook on another impressive wine, and hope that everyone enjoys this blockbuster!
