Merus is among the handful of top California, hard to find, Cult Cabernet's. Sold almost exclusively to their mailing list customers, this wine is amongst the hardest to find, and is typically in very high demand.
If you glance at their website, you will see some of their main themes being small production, high demand, and very difficult to get.
I'm still very surprised, yet very excited, that I have the opportunity to offer to our customers, while supplies last, the highly sought after 2006 vintage of Merus Cabernet at a ridiculously low price for this wine.
Found online into the mid $100 range, our very special sale price is $89.99 per bottle! I don't expect this wine to last very long at this price, and unfortunately supplies are extremely limited, so all orders are first come, first served. Rated 92+ Points by the Wine Advocate (Dec. 2008) - "Although closed at present, Merus’ inky/purple-colored 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon displays enormous power and richness. It is a massive, blockbuster-styled effort possessing black fruits, plenty of spicy oak, hints of licorice and graphite, and mouth-staining tannins and extract in the finish. Forget it for 4-5 years, and drink it over the following 20-25. "
Rated 92 Points by the Wine Spectator (Nov. 2009) - "Intense and rustic, with chewy mineral, anise, dried currant and earth notes. Full-bodied, this is concentrated and long on the finish, but needs time to soften. Best from 2011 through 2017."
