We've carried one wine or another from Ugarte over the years. In my memory, each one has represented a value compared to comparably priced Riojas at the time. This wine is no exception. Unfortunately most of the winery's website is in Spanish, so I can't tell you too much about their history, however, if you are a lover of Rioja, this wine should speak for iteself.

First off, the pricing is excellent. According to information given to both the Wine Advocate and the Wine Spectator, the release price on this wine is $28. Even disregarding the quality of the wine (which is closer to that $28 dollar mark than our price), our $12.99 price for this wine is fantastic! When you factor in how well this wine is made, as well as its quality, which you will understand when you try it, the $12.99 price becomes even more of a bargain! So much so, in fact, that I have foregone sending a Thanksgiving themed newsletter out today in order to feature this wine instead!

Rated 90 Points by the Wine Advocate - "Heredad Ugarte’s 2009 Cincuenta is 100% Tempranillo aged for 10 months in French oak. It offers up toasty tobacco, spice, blackberry, and black cherry aromas. On the palate it is elegant, savory, and stylish with layered flavors. This pleasurable offering will drink nicely through 2019."
